About Myself
I was born and raised in Bangladesh and moved to the United States as a EMBO postdoctoral fellow. Having grown up in a socio-economic environment where opportunities were rare, and through personal hardships, I learned the importance of fostering an environment of inclusion, diversity, equity, and belonging (IDEB) as a foundation for growth and success. Additionally, my commitment to these values is informed by my journey as an international student in Germany and my professional experience as a scientist in both Germany and the United States, where I navigated cultural and systemic challenges. As I transition into an independent academic role, I am dedicated to creating an environment that promotes IDEB for everyone from all backgrounds, both in the class and in the lab. As a neuroscientist of color, and having experience in both computational and wet lab expertise in brain research, I bring a unique perspective on inclusivity and belonging in academia and serve as a role model for first generation scientist in STEM.
